Baptism During Mass

Families are asked to arrive 15 minutes before Mass and sit in the first pew.

At the beginning of mass the Priest or Deacon will ask questions of the Parents/Godparents & trace the sign of the cross on the baby's forehead.

Mass resumes.

Immediately following the homily the Priest blesses the water and ask all present to renew their baptismal promises and then the actual baptism and anointing with oil follows.

Mass resumes.

After communion the baby is given a white garment and the Godparents are asked to light the baptismal candle from the Paschal Candle located in the sanctuary. The blessing of the mother and father follows. Mother, Father and Baby are asked to process out of church with priest and ministers.
